WHY IT'S OKAY TO BE A LITTLE "HIPPIE"

THE WAY WE TAKE CARE OF OURSELVES IS CHANGING.

THERE IS LESS FOCUS ON THE PHYSICAL AND MORE ON THE MENTAL. PEOPLE ARE LOOKING INWARDS – AND LEANING MORE ON SPIRITUALITY – FOR THE ANSWERS TO THEIR EVERYDAY PROBLEMS.

AND WHILE MANY USE MEDITATION, YOGA, CRYSTALS AND MORE FOR THIS TYPE OF HEALING, IT’S MET WITH A LOT OF SKEPTICISM. BUT, SEEING IS NOT ALWAYS BELIEVING. SO, EVEN IF YOU’RE NOT INTO EVERYTHING THAT COMES ALONG WITH SPIRITUALITY, HERE ARE A FEW REASONS WHY IT’S OKAY TO BE JUST A LITTLE “HIPPIE”:

CRYSTALS

It’s said that women live longer because they wear more crystals. (Time to upgrade those diamonds, right?) But, they’re not just for show. Different crystals have different meanings and properties that can help your healing process. However, they’re not limited to being used during meditation or anything intense. Everything on Earth is said to have a vibration, so just keeping a crystal you like near you will interact with your vibrations and – if you set the right intention – hopefully help make your days better and sparklier. You can find crystals in a number of yoga studios as well as online, heres a set we found online that we LOVE- hope you do too!

YOGA

Being a little “hippie” is simply all about being in tune with your mind, body and the world around you. Yoga is a great way to do this. By taking a yoga class, you not only get to work out the little kinks in your muscles, but you get time to relax your mind in a positive environment. In today’s world, it’s super important to disconnect every once in awhile and take time to just be with your thoughts.

COMFORT

Maybe you don’t have a belief system. Maybe you do, but you’re still interested in what those seemingly-always-at-peace people on Instagram are doing to stay so happy. Whether you have crystals, go to yoga once a week or simply make time to take a walk outside, you can find comfort in these activities. It’s all what you make of it, so if you’re in need of something to rely on, begin a routine with these activities.

APPRECIATION

We’re all so wrapped up online and with what other people think of us that we tend to overlook the little things. Push yourself to take notice of all the small things that make each day great. You’ll build an appreciation for all of it and come to realize that those big issues that were drowning you before don’t seem so intimidating now. Do this by taking a walk, watching a sunset or getting coffee by yourself and people watching.

COMMUNITY

The best, and sometimes least expected part, about a journey to positivity is the community that’s out there. If you get involved with groups, find a favorite crystal shop and so forth, you’ll start to meet people with similar interests to you. And when you find a squad that’s supportive of your lifestyle, it only makes it that much easier to stick with it!

XO,

EMILY
