STYLING KIT 101

For those of you who are just getting to know me, I am the kind of girl that wears many hats (party hats are obviously my fave), and loves working on fun projects. One day I may be designing a collection for The House of Perna, and the next I may be styling a commercial. In this post we are going to focus on styling. I have often been asked by girls what I keep in my kit, so here are some ideas of things you may want to get, and where you can get them. I have broken it down into different sections of my kit.  I bring a large bag (which a similar style will be available on thehouseofperna.com soon), and then I have many smaller bags and a tool belt that I bring with me.  These are the things that I think are important, but I do tend to overpack because you never know what you are going to need.

To make it even easier, I have added links so you can find these items (or similar).

RESCUE KIT

1. First Aid Kit
2. Miscellaneous foot pads for comfort or helping with loose shoes
3. Phone charger
4. Contact Solution
5. Lotion
6. Mini emergency kit
7. Grandma's secret spot remover, tide pen

SEWING & TAILORING

1. Needles
2. Miscellaneous threads- I always get thread that matches the pieces I am bringing to a shoot
3. Stitch witchery
4. Scissors- paper & fabric, mini thread scissors
5. Pins
6. Safety Pins

ESSENTIALS

I found this hot pink tool belt a few years back and now it has become a styling staple for me.  I can wear it on set with everything that I need handy.  I switch things out from time to time if there are different things that are needed for a particular shoot, but these re the essentials that I typically carry:

1. Lint remover
2. Makeup face covers
3. Double sided tape
4. Gaff tape
5. Mini steamer
6. Makeup remover sponge
7. Labels & dividers for clothing racks
8. Sharpies
9. Notebook
10.  Static guard
11. Binder clips, clothes pins

Now that you know what you need, get your kit in order, and happy styling!

xo,
A
